What "Anonymous" Actually Means
Many platforms claim to be anonymous but still require email addresses, phone verification, or usernames. On AnonCam, anonymous means exactly that: we don't know who you are, and we don't want to know. You're not asked to create a profile. You're not asked to pick a username. You don't provide an email. You simply show up, get randomly paired with another anonymous person, and chat. That's it.
Privacy by Design
Our architecture decisions are driven by privacy considerations:
- ✓Zero persistent user data — There is no "your account" because there are no accounts. Nothing to store, nothing to profile.
- ✓Ephemeral sessions — Each chat session exists only in server memory temporarily and is wiped within minutes of disconnection.
- ✓Peer-to-peer video — Video streams don't pass through our servers after connection. It's browser-to-browser.
- ✓No cookies for tracking — We don't set advertising cookies, analytics cookies, or session cookies that persist beyond your visit.
- ✓Minimal logging — We log only what's necessary for debugging server issues, and logs are rotated daily.
What Information We Don't Collect
Compare AnonCam to other platforms. Here's what we explicitly do NOT collect or store:
- Email addresses
- Phone numbers
- Real names
- Birth dates
- Profile pictures
- Chat logs
- Video recordings
- IP addresses (beyond temporary connection routing)
- Geolocation data
- Browser fingerprint
- Payment information (we don't charge)
IP Address Handling
When you connect to AnonCam, your browser makes an HTTPS request to our server. The server sees your IP address temporarily to route the initial handshake and WebRTC signaling. However:
- This IP is not stored in any database.
- Standard server access logs may contain IPs but are deleted within 24 hours and never correlated with chat activity.
- We do not build IP-to-profile mappings.
- You can further hide your IP by using a VPN or Tor, which is fully compatible with AnonCam.
Browser Permissions Explained
AnonCam requests specific browser permissions only when needed:
- Camera access — Only if you want video chat. You can deny it and use text-only. The permission is requestable per-session and can be revoked in browser settings anytime.
- Microphone access — Similarly optional. Text chat doesn't need it.
- No location access — We never ask for your location. Some WebRTC implementations may leak local IP addresses, but we configure our stack to minimize this.
How to Maximize Anonymity
While AnonCam is privacy-focused, you can take additional steps to enhance your anonymity:
- Use a VPN — This masks your real IP address from our server and from the peer you're talking to. Choose a reputable VPN that doesn't keep logs.
- Use incognito/private browsing mode — This prevents browser history, cookies, or site data from being saved on your device.
- Never share personal information — Don't say your real name, address, workplace, social media handles, or any identifying details. The other person doesn't need to know.
- Keep camera off if concerned — Text-only mode eliminates visual identification. You can also use virtual backgrounds or camera filters if available in your browser.
- Use a different nickname each session — If you want to use a name, make it unique and unrelated to your real identity.
- Clear browser data after session — While we don't set tracking cookies, clearing cache and data removes any incidental traces.
What the Other Person Sees
During a video chat, the other participant sees:
- Your video stream (if camera enabled)
- Your audio (if microphone enabled)
- Whatever text you type
- IP address? No. They don't see your IP, location, or any metadata about you.
- Username? No. You're identified only as "Stranger" or similar generic label.
- Profile? No. There is no profile to view.

Legal Compliance & Age Restriction
AnonCam is intended for adults aged 18 and older. By using the site, you represent that you are of legal age in your jurisdiction. We do not knowingly allow minors to access the platform. While we don't verify age (to preserve anonymity), we rely on users to comply. We also comply with DMCA takedown requests and will cooperate with law enforcement when legally compelled through proper channels.
Because we store minimal data, there is simply not much to disclose even if requested. This is a feature, not a bug.
