TL;DR (Too Long; Didn't Read)
AnonCam is an anonymous chat platform. We do not require accounts. We do not store your chat messages or video. We do not log your IP address permanently. We use minimal cookies. Your privacy is our priority — we collect almost nothing about you.
1. What This Policy Covers
This Privacy Policy explains how AnonCam ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use our website anon-cam.site (the "Service"). By using AnonCam, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
This policy applies only to information collected through our website and service. It does not apply to information you may provide to other users in chat — those are your conversations and outside our control.
2. Information We Collect
Spoiler: Very little. AnonCam is designed to minimize data collection. Here's exactly what we may collect:
Connection & Technical Data (Temporary Only)
- IP address — When you first connect to our server, your IP is visible to us for the duration of the connection. However, we do not log or store IP addresses. They exist only in transient server memory during your session and are purged within minutes after disconnect.
- Browser user agent — We may briefly see your browser type/version for debugging purposes, but we don't store it.
- Session identifiers — Random tokens generated for your chat session that exist only in RAM and are discarded after you leave.
- Offer/answer SDP data — WebRTC connection metadata exchanged during peer matching. Not stored.
What We Explicitly DO NOT Collect
- Email addresses
- Phone numbers
- Real names or usernames
- Profile pictures
- Chat message logs
- Video or audio recordings
- Geolocation data
- Device identifiers
- Cookies (we don't set any tracking cookies)
- Analytics data (no Google Analytics, etc.)
- Payment information (we don't charge)
3. How We Use Information
Since we collect almost nothing, there's not much to use. The temporary data we briefly hold is used solely for:
- Facilitating chat connections — Matching you with another random user via WebRTC signaling.
- Maintaining service stability — Real-time monitoring of server load and connection health (via ephemeral metrics, not stored).
- Debugging — If something breaks, we might look at recent connection logs to diagnose, but these logs are deleted within 24 hours.
- Security measures — Rate limiting connection attempts to prevent abuse using temporary counters.
We do NOT:
- Build user profiles
- Analyze your behavior
- Sell your data
- Use data for targeted advertising
- Share data with third parties (except legal requirements)
4. Data Retention & Deletion
| Data Type | Retention Period | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| IP address | Transient (minutes) | Not logged, only in memory during session |
| Session tokens | Until disconnect | Wiped from memory within ~5 min of disconnect |
| Chat messages | Transient | Relayed in real-time, not stored |
| Video/audio | Never stored | Peer-to-peer, never passes through our servers |
| Access logs | Max 24 hours | Standard server access logs rotated daily; no connection to chat sessions |
| Error logs | Max 7 days | Automatically purged; may contain IPs temporarily |
Because we retain virtually nothing, there's nothing to "delete" upon request. If you believe we have your data (highly unlikely), you can contact [email protected] with a description and we'll confirm we don't have it.
5. Information Shared with Other Users
When you chat on AnonCam, the other participant sees and hears whatever you transmit through your camera/microphone/keyboard. We do not control what you share with them. That information is not collected by us, but it's also not private between you and the stranger. Assume they could record everything (even though we cannot).
Important: The person you're talking to can see your video (if enabled), hear your audio, and read your text. They may be recording using external devices. We have no control over that. Do not share personal information with strangers.
6. Cookies & Tracking
AnonCam does not use:
- Analytics cookies (Google Analytics, Matomo, etc.)
- Advertising cookies (Facebook Pixel, Google Ads, etc.)
- Tracking pixels or beacons
- LocalStorage for tracking purposes
- Fingerprinting scripts
We may set minimal cookies strictly necessary for site functionality, but in practice we don't need any. The site works without any cookies at all. You can verify this by inspecting the Network tab in browser dev tools.
7. Third-Party Services
AnonCam does not integrate third-party services that would receive your data. We don't use:
- Google Analytics
- Facebook SDK
- Advertising networks
- Chat widgets
- Fonts from external providers (we use system fonts)
- CDNs (site served from our own server)
Exception: Our TURN servers (used for relayed video when P2P fails) are provided by a third-party data center operator. They handle IP-level routing temporarily but don't have access to content and don't store logs. This is a necessary infrastructure component for connectivity.
8. Data Security
We implement security measures to protect the service:
- HTTPS enforced (TLS 1.2+)
- Firewall and rate limiting on servers
- Minimal attack surface (few open ports, no unnecessary services)
- Regular security updates on servers
- WebRTC peer-to-peer means video doesn't touch our servers
However, no online service is 100% secure. While we protect our infrastructure, we cannot protect your device or the person on the other end who might be recording you. Use discretion.
9. Children's Privacy
AnonCam is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If we become aware that a minor is using the service, we will ban that session. Parents: this is not a safe environment for children due to the adult nature of random open chat.
10. Your Rights & Choices
Due to our minimal data collection, most privacy rights are moot — there's nothing to access, correct, delete, or port. However:
- Access — You can request information about what data we might have about you. We'll tell you it's basically nothing.
- Deletion — If we somehow have your data, request deletion at [email protected] and we'll comply.
- Restriction — You control what you share. Stop using the service to cease any temporary data collection.
- Data portability — N/A (we have no data to port).
To exercise any rights, email [email protected] with your request. We may verify your identity if we have zero data about you, that's easy.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll post the updated policy on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance. We'll never retroactively weaken your privacy without explicit notice.
12. International Data Transfer
AnonCam's servers are located in [INSERT COUNTRY]. Your data (if any) is processed there. By using the service, you consent to processing in that jurisdiction. We don't knowingly collect data from countries where the service is prohibited.
